A rain shower began about 1645, ended about 1704 - 0.14" in Tropo gauge (automated gauge caught 0.16" . Hail began about 1659 and lasted about 3 minutes. I was not expecting hail but my daughter saw it start and rushed out to place my hail pad which gathered some impressions. The largest hail was round and flat. The smallest hail melted before the rain ended. Temperature at 1700 was 81° and dropping. My aerometer (only 10 ft above ground level and my yard is surrounded by tall trees) registered a gust of 14 mph at 1651, but during the rain it mostly registered zero miles per hour with a couple 2 mph readings included.The hail looked white as it fell. The hail I found after the rain ended was clear or clear with a white interior. The top of the hail pad faced Northeast (HOWEVER, the picture was rotated 180° by the camera app). One picture is some hail pieces I found after the hail ended. The other is the pad by itself. |
