Times are not accurate because I was involved in a pump test for my well at the time the hail started and was engaged with a stop watch rather than clock time. I have never seen hail like this. Isolated 1/2 inch balls that broke up when they hit the grass and splattered on the hail pad. Some of the smoothest indentations on the hail pad are the result of heavy rain that occurred since my previous hail report on 6/11/2008. I determined the time from the temperature of Weather Underground station KCOGOLDE14 0.5 miles ENE and 240 feet lower. Total precip during storm that lasted about 1 hour was 0.01 in. KCOGOLDE14 detected no precip on July 2. This report shows the value of having COCORAHS and automated stations close to each other. Added count. CK |
