Notes: Here is another day I remember incredibly well where mother nature showed it's fury to a young me. It happened less than a tenth of a mile away from the location of OH-FR-81. Around 10 to 30 minutes before we were placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and turned on the news. A dinner for my family, cousins and I turned into a storm-fest. Based on radar data, the heavy rain, wind, and hail began at around 6:27 pm and I watched the hail fall with my own eyes. One thing I remember was being surprised how high the hail bounced up, around 4 to 5 feet! My cousins and I were amazed by this. I also remember running outside to grab a piece of hail which I successfully did. I didn't measure it but if I had to guess, the hail was quarter-size, or an inch long. I don't remember specific details of the storm, but estimate it was around 2 to 4 minutes and I think the hail was white ice. After the hail ended my parents wanted to go somewhere, probably home, and I recall seeing another storm capable of producing strong hail on the TV and radar. I alerted my parents but was ignored, and we headed on the road. Indeed, I was right, the storm I was worried about produced hail. It was hard to tell the size as we were on the road, but if I had to guess the size was also a quarter inch long. Based on radar the time was 7:04 pm, we were going East on Davidson Road at the intersection of Tremont Blvd at the time. I don't remember the duration but believe it lasted a minute or two. We made it to our location and finally the weather calmed down. I remembrr this event so well because it's what provided me with a massive interest in meteorology and severe weather. I will never forget mother nature's fury that evening.
