The pad has been in place since the day you asked us to put out hail pads on 4/12/2014. The pad has undergone several snow storms since then. The rice sized hail happened sometime in late April, possibly 4/19 or 4/20 when I was not present. Hail pad left out. First observed hail on 5/7/2014, recorded here as pea sized, but hail strikes observed on pad are negligible and I am leaving hail pad out so as not to waste the pad. I shall send today's pad in along with the last wimpy pad from the 2013 season when the snow season ends and we finally get hail worth recording with a pad. There was a few nearby lightning strikes with this mini storm, and there are more clouds to the west. The storm area and density increased about 5PM and hail fell again between 5:27PM and 5:30PM. Storm cloud extends from the northern horizon to the southern horizon, east to Guy Gulch and west to the north fork of Clear Creek. Lightning storms are widespread. At 5:44 PM I am terminating this hail report and switching to a significant weather event. 90% of hail strikes occurred on 5/7/14. Hail did not accumulate on ground because it fell over 195 minutes, giving plenty of time to melt. |
