Although we got .44" rain this week, the most in 3 months, and it finally cooled off, it's still very dry. Streamflows are very low. Plants changing color and dropping leaves early. We were gone for a week and counting on predicted rain to water the garden, but the forecast was overly optimistic and the soil is very dry. No frost yet though, which is unusual. Cool weather and widespread light to moderate rain did suppress most of the wildfires and air quality is much improved.
